Attollo Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Attollo proudly celebrates the rich and diverse history, vibrant culture, and profound contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. Hispanic Heritage Month serves as a time to reflect on the lasting impact these communities have had across various fields, from arts and sciences to politics and education. Originally established in 1968 as a week-long observance under President Lyndon Johnson, the celebration was expanded in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan to span 30 days, from September 15 to October 15. This period is particularly meaningful, as it coincides with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile. Hispanic Heritage Month is now recognized nationwide as a time to honor the enduring legacy and growing influence of Hispanic and Latinx individuals across the globe.
Throughout this month, Attollo is shining a spotlight on the voices, achievements, and stories of our scholars, local leaders, and global icons, as they share their favorite aspects of Hispanic culture and the ways in which their heritage has shaped their lives. Whether it’s through art, music, literature, education, or leadership, these individuals exemplify the spirit, strength, and resilience that define the Hispanic community. Their contributions reflect the deep-rooted traditions and evolving nature of Hispanic heritage, and we are excited to highlight them throughout our month-long celebration.
This year, the campaign artwork for Hispanic Heritage Month serves as a visual representation of the passion, perseverance, and contributions of Hispanic communities worldwide. Each hue in the design is symbolic: Fiesta Red represents the courage and determination of those who have fought for progress; Golden Harvest stands for prosperity and the fruits of hard-earned success; Cactus Green signifies growth, resilience, and the ability to thrive even in the harshest conditions; and Ocean Blue embodies wisdom, tradition, and the vast cultural knowledge passed down through generations. Together, these colors celebrate the vibrant essence and global influence of Hispanic heritage, capturing the dynamic and powerful legacy of these communities. In addition to the symbolic use of color, the typefaces selected for this year’s campaign hold special significance. Each font was designed by Hispanic and Latinx typographers, further highlighting the immense contributions of Hispanic creatives in the design world. By incorporating their work, we not only celebrate Hispanic heritage visually but also support and uplift the designers whose creativity and innovation continue to shape modern visual culture. These typefaces mirror the resilience and vibrancy of Hispanic and Latinx communities and elevate the campaign’s message of empowerment and pride.
Introducing LatinXcellence
Attollo is also excited to announce the launch of LatinXcellence (LX), a brand-new affinity group designed to celebrate and connect Hispanic/Latinx identifying students. Set to launch in Spring 2025, LatinXcellence will provide a vibrant space for students to explore their heritage, build community, and engage in dynamic activities.
¡Oye! LatinXcellence is here to create a welcoming environment where students can vibe, connect, and embrace their culture. Whether you’re looking to dive deeper into your roots or simply rep your heritage, LX is for you!
As part of the celebration, we are excited to offer a special set of commemorative stickers, available at the Attollo Office beginning later this month while supplies last. These bold and colorful designs reflect the spirit of Hispanic Heritage Month and are a fun way to show your pride and support for the community.
Be sure to follow Attollo on social media throughout the month, as we spotlight a different global icon each weekday on our Instagram stories, now through October 15.
