Attollo Scholars Dive into Miami's Vibrant Campus Life and Culture
The warm, sunny weather in Miami accurately described the bright and cheerful experiences shared by the Miami crew. Students and staff spent five days exploring the vibrant city, basking in the good vibes and even better college campuses.
Letu Chibssa, an Attollo Summer Intern, shared her perspective, saying, “I enjoyed being able to connect with the students and immerse myself in the present moment as we did tours and activities. It was my first time at TopGolf, which was intimidating, but everyone supported and cheered me on, allowing me to develop a new skill!”
Students were busy visiting the various campuses around the peninsula, including Lynn University, the University of Miami, St. Thomas University, Florida International University, and Barry University. Each campus provided a unique perspective on college life.
Trinity Cover, Attollo Fellow, shared how “witnessing scholars envisioning themselves not only at the schools we visited but living in Miami as well. It was amazing to see our students of color feel empowered by visiting a city where the majority represented their demographic. Lastly, our family vibes in the car and AirBnB were, of course, the cherry on top and caused all of us to grow a closer bond with one another, staff and scholars alike.”
But it was not all work - students had fun at Top Golf, enjoyed the sun at North Miami Beach, marveled at the Wynwood Walls, and cheered on a thrilling Marlins vs. Orioles baseball game. Each experience offered meaningful moments of joy and team bonding. Everyone shared about the level of connection and joyful moments the entire crew shared.
The personal development dinner was hosted at 27 Restaurant in Miami Beach. Guests included Attollo alumni and tour guides from the college tours.
Altogether, traveling to Miami was an unforgettable experience for everyone. Despite the iconic Miami heat, the students embraced the sunshine and made the most of each experience.
