Attollo’s Home Run in Boston
The Boston Crew began their college exploration by visiting seven universities around the city! From exploring the beauty of the reflections on the Charles River to the architecture of Boston College, the experience offered many beautiful moments for reflection.
Avia, Attollo Summer Intern, said, “The backdrop of the Boston skyline on our night runs provided the best moments to appreciate being here with the best group of students.”
Attollo scholars visited a diverse range of campuses, which helped them understand the vision of living in the city and the suburbs. After a 4:00 am call time followed by a 7-hour drive, students found themselves at the beautiful campus of Tufts University. Mackenzie Gross, an undergraduate admissions officer, led an exclusive Q&A session to answer the many eager questions from the scholars. She offered an insider’s guide to presenting the best version of yourself in the college portfolio. On Day 2, students visited Boston University, the Berklee College of Music, and Harvard University, showcasing campus life in a city setting. A bonus was that current students led each tour that day. Thanks to our incredible tour guides, students learned firsthand the experience of someone who applied and succeeded in gaining admittance. Our scholars also got real, honest perspectives about college life. The final day was busy visiting MIT, Boston College, and Brown University! The tours included conversations with admissions counselors and students to bring together all the diverse perspectives students could learn from. Visiting two states in a day was packed, but it also illustrated living in the suburbs of a city and a college town!
Maliyah, Attollo Creative Director, said, “Visiting the schools was insightful even for me, who already graduated because the entire experience allows you to envision yourself having opportunities we never thought we could have.”
Despite being busy, the Boston crew had time to explore the city! On the first day, students ended the day with an entertaining Duck Boat Tour and a burger buffet by the Charles River! The students who woke up for the 5:00 am workouts were the most impressive. From biking 15 miles to hot yoga, students had a balance between mental and physical well-being. The city's vibrant dining spots also ensured happy students unwinding after packed days of intellectual exploration.
The week culminated with a fantastic professional development dinner at Citrus & Salt Boston, where our scholars were joined by esteemed guests from the education, banking, consulting, and research sectors. This gathering offered a unique opportunity for our scholars to engage with professionals, gain insights into various industries, and network in a relaxed, convivial setting. It was a fitting end to an enriching week that blended academic rigor with cultural immersion and professional growth.
Overall, the trip was one for the books, as everyone will truly carry fond memories with them. The most fun was the musical experiences our host hotel, The Verb in Fenway Park, fostered for everyone. Following a long day, the group played guitars and sang together in the lobby. Before bed and getting ready in the morning, each room jammed out to the infinite amount of vinyl records playing on their own vinyl player in each hotel room. Small moments of connectedness in exploring the next huge stage in life made this trip the essence of spectacular.
